09/07/24 - Morning Shot: What Labour's first 100 days in government would look like
61-year-old former public prosecutor and human rights lawyer, Sir Keir Starmer is the UK's new prime minister, after his Labour Party swept to power in a landslide general election victory. The Conservative Party suffered a dramatic collapse, losing 250 seats over the course of a devastating night, following a tumultuous 14 years in power, which saw five different prime ministers run the country. This result marks a stunning reversal from the 2019 election when Labour, led by the veteran left-wing politician Jeremy Corbyn, suffered its worst electoral defeat in almost a century. In his first speech as prime minister after greeting dozens of jubilant Labour supporters who had lined Downing Street, Sir Keir vowed to run a "government of service" and to kick start a period of "national renewal". On this episode of Morning Shot, Andy Williams, Managing Director at Penta Group’s London office shares his insights. 08/07/24 - Breakfast Bites: Would you share your salary with others?
How much do you make at work? If your co-worker came up to you today and asked you this personal question, would you tell them? This was one of the topics covered by the Straits Times as part of STJobs earlier this year. It's a pretty awkward question: but what if you want to know if you’re being compensated " fairly" as compared to other members of your team? And, if you’re the one being asked, is it appropriate to tell them? Audrey and Ryan discuss the big salary discussion, and how experts say you should go about it.
