13/03/26 - Morning Shot: As Condos Age, Who Pays for the Repairs?More than 1,000 private residential developments in Singapore are now over 30 years old, raising urgent questions about how ageing condominiums should fund major repairs and upgrades. The Government is reviewing the Building (Strata Management) Act, with proposals that include lowering approval thresholds for essential works, requiring training for management council members, and potentially co-funding lift upgrades.
While many residents and managing agents welcome the changes, concerns remain about implementation, funding gaps and whether subsidies could unintentionally delay necessary maintenance.
Joyce Lim, Senior Correspondent at The Straits Times covering property news, joins The Breakfast Show to unpack why ageing condos are becoming a growing issue in Singapore, the tensions between owner-occupiers and investors, and what the proposed reforms could mean for residents and estate management.

12/03/26 - Morning Shot: Are Tuition Centres Overselling Success?Tuition is now a $1.8 billion industry in Singapore fuelled by parental anxiety and an increasingly competitive education landscape. But when centres advertise “90% distinctions” or “ex-MOE teachers”, how much context are parents actually getting?
The Ministry of Education is working with the advertising industry to develop a code of conduct aimed at curbing questionable marketing practices in the sector. Could a standardised disclosure panel raise transparency without over-regulating the market?
Associate Professor Kelvin Law, Nanyang Business School, Division of Accounting at Nanyang Technological University joins the Breakfast Show to unpack why selective disclosure can be misleading even when technically true, and what higher advertising standards could mean for the broader education system.

11/03/26 - Breakfast Bites: "Sleep divorce" - why are some couples opting to sleep separately? The practice of married couples sleeping in separate rooms isn’t new, but it’s being discussed more frequently today.
Some couples in Singapore are also experimenting with what’s known as a “sleep divorce” — choosing to sleep apart to improve sleep quality and, in turn, reduce potential tensions that can arise between partners.

11/03/26 - US Markets Wrap: Geopolitics shakes markets but investors hold steadyOil prices have pulled back after an earlier surge driven by fears the Iran conflict could disrupt shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Crude briefly approached $120 a barrel before retreating as traders bet governments could release emergency reserves to offset potential supply shocks. Confusion over a social media post suggesting a tanker had been escorted through the strait, later contradicted by the White House, added to the volatility. Reports that Iran could be preparing to deploy mines in the vital shipping lane have kept markets on edge even as stocks staged a rebound. Josh Gilbert, Market Analyst, eToro explore the return of the geopolitical risk premium and what it means for investors.

11/03/26 - Bigger Pic: China’s Growth Target Meets Rising Geopolitical RiskChina has set a 4.5 to 5 percent growth target at this year’s National People’s Congress, signaling a more pragmatic approach as the world’s second largest economy grapples with weak demand, property stress and deflationary pressures. At the same time, escalating tensions around Iran are raising questions about energy security, trade routes and the broader balance of power between China and the United States. Alicia García-Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis CIB, shares what the latest policy signals from Beijing mean for growth, markets and China’s role in an increasingly uncertain global economy.
