01/06/26 - Saturday Mornings: Birth, Enlightenment, Nirvana: The Meaning of Vesak Day with Venerable Dr. Chuan ShengMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen explores the profound spiritual meaning behind Vesak Day, the most sacred holiday in Buddhism.
Joining Glenn is Venerable Dr. Chuan Sheng, Vice‑Rector and Associate Professor at the Buddhist College of Singapore — a Harvard‑trained historian and ordained monk.
Vesak commemorates three monumental moments in the Buddha’s life: his birth, his enlightenment, and his passing into Nirvana. But beyond the rituals lies a deeper message — one of compassion, mindfulness, and the end of suffering.
We explore the significance of:
🌸 Wisdom & Peace — honouring the Buddha’s teachings of loving‑kindness.
🪷 Accumulating Merit — why acts of generosity multiply on this day.
💧 Bathing the Buddha — a symbolic cleansing of one’s own mind.
🙏 Three‑Step, One‑Bow — a ritual of humility and mindfulness practiced at monasteries across Singapore.
Venerable Chuan Sheng also shares how Vesak invites Buddhists to reflect, let go of attachments, and strive toward a more harmonious existence.

01/06/26 - Saturday Mornings: A New Story for a New Generation... Inside the Revamped Malay Heritage CentreMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen celebrates the long‑awaited reopening of the Malay Heritage Centreon this week'sSingapore Home Brew. Now refreshed, reimagined, and ready to welcome a new generation of visitors. Joining Glenn in the studio is Hafiz Shariff, General Manager of MHC, to take us inside the transformation.
The revamped Centre features six refreshed galleries, new visitor facilities, and a powerful new narrative: Dari Rantau Ke Rumah (From the Region to Home) — tracing the evolution of Malay identities from the 19th century to today. Visitors will encounter a wider cast of pioneers, deeper representation of Malay sub‑ethnic groups, and a renewed focus on the contributions of Malay women in education, literature, and the arts.
The refresh also includes five commissioned artworks by emerging and established Malay artists, weaving contemporary expression into historical storytelling.
We explore MHC’s role as the cultural heart of Kampong Gelam, its vision to be the nexus of the Malay community, and the June holiday programmes — from treasure hunts to scent‑making workshops — designed to bring families together. Admission is free for everyone — Singaporeans, PRs, tourists — until 28 June.

01/06/26 - Saturday Mornings: Stopping Violence and Human Trafficking in Our Lifetime; Protecting Vulnerable CommunitiesMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphenin the Leaders in Action segment, spotlights a powerful partnership tackling one of the most urgent human rights issues in Asia: the fight against violence and exploitation. Joining Glenn are Rae Lee, Executive Director of International Justice Mission (IJM) Singapore & Southeast Asia, and Raj Singh, CEO of Coco Veda.
For 25 years, IJM has worked with governments around the world to rescue victims, prosecute offenders, strengthen justice systems, and restore survivors to safety. Their mission is bold: rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice unstoppable.
We explore IJM’s work across the region — from combating online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines to fighting forced labour in Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Indonesia.
Coco Veda’s partnership with IJM is rooted in shared values: dignity, ethical impact, and community empowerment. Through their LiveWell initiative, Coco Veda is donating 30% of proceeds from selected wellness gift sets to support IJM’s work — turning everyday consumer choices into meaningful protection for vulnerable children.
We discuss the four pillars of IJM’s protection model, the scale of the problem, and the simple actions individuals and businesses can take to help.
Correction: Our interviewee referred to 'nearly 500 million' children were trafficked or exploited to produce child sexual exploitation materials in the Philippines in 2022.
The correct figure is about 500,000 children.
We apologise for the error and have corrected the record. This remains a deeply concerning issue that underscores the urgent need for collective action to protect children from online sexual exploitation.

31/05/26 - Saturday Mornings International News Review: Shangri La Dialogue, A New G2 World & Pulling out of the USA 250 Concert🌍On MoneyFM 89.3’s International News Review, Steve Okun joins Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen discuss a deep dive into Washington’s political machinery and just in time for one of Asia’s biggest geopolitical gatherings: the Shangri‑La Dialogue.
We begin with the mood in DC: what Steve heard from Republicans, Democrats, and the policy insiders who shape America’s global posture. Then we turn to Singapore, where the Shangri‑La Dialogue is bringing defence chiefs, diplomats, and strategists together for a weekend of high‑stakes conversations.
We also unpack Kishore Mahbubani’s provocative G‑2 thesis: the idea that the world may be shifting toward a US–China duopoly. If that’s true, what happens to everyone else? And what does it mean for the global rules‑based order?
And, President Trump attacks artists dropping out of US Freedom 250 concert and says he may headline the event and possibly make it into a MAGA rally.

23/05/26 - Saturday Mornings: Fire Horse, Leica & the Art of the Decisive Moment: Inside Ma Dongmin’s Singapore ExhibitionMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen is joined in the studio by Robbie Hoyes-Cock and Joseph Bakhsh of Art Vault Asia to preview this extraordinary showcase — Leica’s first oil‑on‑canvas exhibition in Southeast Asia, timed with the auspicious Year of the Fire Horse.
This week on Leaders in Action, we spotlight a landmark moment in Asia’s contemporary art scene: “Fire Horse – The Decisive Moment,” a major exhibition by internationally acclaimed Beijing‑based artist Ma Dongmin, presented by Art Vault Asia in partnership with Leica Singapore.
The exhibition features 23 works from Ma’s celebrated Blue Fire Horse Collection, including new pieces like Twilight Ascension, Radiant Storm, Velvet Thunder, and Celestial Pulse. Ma Dongmin — a three‑time Venice Biennale honouree — is known for his “misty lens” technique, blending Eastern philosophical depth with Western conceptual rigour.
We explore:
🎨 Why the horse is central to Ma’s artistic language
🔥 How the Fire Horse year amplifies the collection’s symbolism
📷 Why Leica chose this moment to enter the fine‑art canvas space
🌏 How Asian contemporary art is gaining global momentum

23/05/26 - Saturday Mornings: Love, Loneliness & AI: Inside ‘Myles – Soulmate in a Box’ with Inch Chua & SRTMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Singaporean musician, actor, playwright, Inch Chua. On The Wide Angle, we explore one of the boldest, most emotionally resonant productions on the Singapore stage this year: “Myles – Soulmate in a Box”, a one‑woman musical starring the brilliant Inch Chua, presented by the Singapore Repertory Theatre.
Inspired by Inch’s own experiences with modern dating, heartbreak, and technology, the show follows a woman who — after being emotionally shattered — decides to learn coding and build the perfect AI boyfriend. What unfolds is a story that is funny, raw, contemporary, and painfully honest about the way technology shapes intimacy.
We discuss the creative process, the music, the writing, and the emotional truth behind the show. We also explore the bigger questions:
💔 What does connection mean in an age of algorithms?
🤖 Can AI fill the emotional gaps humans leave behind?
🎭 Why are audiences resonating so deeply with this story?

23/05/26 - Saturday Mornings: Film Isn’t Dead — Why Gen Z Is Bringing Back Old CamerasMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with veteran photo journalist and photographer Kris LeBoutillier. This week on Singapore Home Brew, we dive into a fascinating cultural shift: the return of film photography. And not just film — early‑2000s digicams, camcorders, disposable cameras, even flip phones.
Gen Z and younger millennials are exhausted by algorithmic feeds, AI‑generated perfection, and the endless sameness of smartphone photography. They want something tactile, unpredictable, imperfect — something human. And old cameras deliver exactly that.
We explore the three overlapping trends driving this movement:
📸 The Film Camera Revival — grain, blur, light leaks, and the thrill of waiting for your photos.
📷 Digicam Culture — harsh flash, low megapixels, oversaturated colours… now considered cool.
🤖 The Anti‑AI Aesthetic — visual proof that a real person was there.
Kris explains why this isn’t nostalgia — it’s a counterreaction to hyper‑digital life. A mindfulness practice. A creative rebellion. A way to slow down.
Singapore is feeling it too: vintage camera prices are soaring, classes are full, and young creators are rediscovering the joy of intentional photography.

23/05/26 - Saturday Mornings International News Review: Washington Whispers, AI Job Cuts & Asia’s Sustainability Race🌍On MoneyFM 89.3’s International News Review, Steve Okun joins Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen and they discuss Steve's recent whirlwind trip to Washington — and he’s bringing the inside scoop. From Capitol Hill to K Street, Steve checks in with the people who actually shape US policy: lawmakers, strategists, and the power brokers who sit between both parties.
We start with the political mood in DC: what Republicans and Democrats are really preparing for as the US heads deeper into an election year, and how those decisions ripple across Asia.
Then we turn to Singapore, where former President Halimah Yacob has publicly criticised the CEO of Standard Chartered for describing certain workers as “lower‑value human capital” amid AI‑driven job cuts. Steve breaks down why this comment struck a nerve — and what it signals about the future of work.
Finally, we talk about the recent Ecosperity Week 2026, Temasek’s flagship sustainability summit, where global leaders gather in Singapore to discuss Asia’s race toward 2030. What was really accomplished?

18/05/26 - Saturday Mornings: Leadership at the Inflection Point: What the C‑Suite Must Do NowMoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Elisa Mallis, Managing Director at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), and Mike Hardy, co‑author of the new Trends for Global Leadership: C‑Suite Insights Report.
Over the past eight months, CCL conducted in‑depth interviews with business and HR leaders across regions to identify the five leadership trends defining what comes next. We explore one of the most important questions facing organisations today: Has globalisation reached an inflection point — and what does that mean for leadership?
We discuss how leaders are navigating a world shaped by poly crisis — where economic shifts, digital acceleration, geopolitical uncertainty, and social fragmentation collide. Elisa and Mike share insights on the new leadership capabilities required: judgment under ambiguity, alignment across borders, resilience in disruption, and the ability to lead through complexity rather than control it.

18/05/26 - Saturday Mornings: Saving Lives Across the Causeway... Inside the Work of Paws of JBThe Wide Angle segment takes us across the Causeway to Paws of JB, a volunteer animal welfare initiative helping stray and abandoned animals in Johor Bahru. MoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Maxine Beak, Lead Volunteer, Paws of JB and Nick Wong, Paws of JB Volunteer. Unlike Singapore, where structured systems, sterilisation programmes, and regulatory support keep shelters stable, JB faces overcrowding, limited funding, weaker enforcement, and chronic medical challenges. Many shelters operate independently, relying solely on donations. Some even resort to expired medication due to lack of resources.
Paws of JB supports these shelters through feeding, cleaning, medical fundraising, and cross‑border adoption efforts — bringing animals to Singapore where they have a better chance of finding a home. Volunteers like Nick and Maxine describe heart breaking scenes: dogs kept in small cages for years, animals deprived of walks, and outbreaks like distemper spreading rapidly due to overcrowding.
