MONEY@work | 23 August 2019

On 23 August, MONEY FM 89.3 held our investment networking session, MONEY@work, at the Mercedes-Benz Center. The event was fully subscribed. Hosted by Elliott Danker and Ryan Huang from #TheBreakfastHuddle, we were joined by leading market experts - Geoff Howie from SGX, David Kuo from The Motley Fool, Teh Hooi Ling from Inclusive Value Fund and Desmond Leong from Everest Fortune Group as they shared their insights with the participants. Some of our participants also managed to test drive several models of Mercedes, including the Mercedes-Benz AMG cars, before the event started!

Geoff Howie, Market Strategist at SGX, gave a detailed overview of the market while recommending consistent short-term trading opportunities for beginners who intend to start small.

CEO of The Motley Fool and MONEY FM 89.3’s regular guest, David Kuo, took the stage next as he talked about how we can build our portfolio with REITs. Apart from the benefits of investing in REITs, he also shared his opinions on the protests in Hong Kong and how it may affect one’s decision making in investing.

Author of “Show Me the Money” and CEO of Inclusive Value Fund, Teh Hooi Ling, gave a brief overview on investing in funds - the benefits, factors to consider and the steps to take to embark on your investing journey.

Last but not least, Desmond Leong, CEO of Everest Fortune Group, spoke on Forex Investments. Known as one of the most volatile forms of investments, Desmond shared why it is vital to avoid misleading information online and how to look for credible sources.

Geoff Howie said: "Just as synchronised global growth of 2017 supported cyclical sectors in Singapore, we have seen global growth concerns in the year so far support defensive segments like REITs and Telcos”.

MONEY FM 89.3 would like to thank our MONEY@work participants, guest speakers and our event partners, Cycle & Carriage and Big O Group.

Be sure to watch this space for our next event! Tune in to The Breakfast Huddle, every weekday from 6-9AM.
