The government of the Republic of Indonesia has officially designated Kendal as a new SEZ as of 18 December 2019 with government regulation (PP) No. 85/ 2019.

The PP explains that SEZ Kendal has a geo-economic advantage because the area is close to Ahmad Yani airport, Tanjung Emas seaport, and lies adjacent to the Trans Java Toll road, the Pantura road, and the Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya double railway line.

"SEZ Kendal has a land area of 1.000 hectares and is located in the Kaliwungu and Brangsong subdistricts within the Kendal regency. The area will be divided into 3 zones, each having a different theme, namely export processing, logistics zone, and industrial zones," said Juliani Kusumaningrum, Head of Marketing & Sales, Kendal Industrial Park, in Menara Batavia, 25th Floor, Central Jakarta-Indonesia, recently.

Juliani added that SEZ Kendal also has a geo-strategic advantages, namely export-oriented industry, import-substitution, high technology product and application-based that supports the 4.0 industry.

Kendal Industrial Park is now officially a Special Economic Zone, which means that investors can obtain tax, fiscal and non-fiscal incentives if they expand their business or set up their factories in SEZ Kendal. For example, in terms of tax incentives, investors can obtain a tax holiday of up to 100% depending on the amount of investment.

Juliani hopes that with the SEZ status investors are even more interested in expanding their business in SEZ Kendal.

SEZ Kendal is developed by means of a joint venture between Jababeka Group, a trusted city developer from Indonesia, and SembCorp Development, Singapore's leading developer. For this reason, investors can invest without concerns as both partners have high integrity. On top of that, SEZ Kendal Industrial Park is fully supported by the government of Indonesia.
