Singapore stocks rose today following gains in US and Europe markets.  The Straits Times Index was up 0.3 per cent to 3,244.4 points in early trade after 216.1 million securities changed hands. Some notable names seeing new developments include Jardine Matheson, which announced a 5 per cent on-year increase in underlying net profit to US$1.6 billion for FY2022 yesterday.  We’re also tracking property group Hongkong Land, which reported yesterday a fall in underlying earnings by 20 per cent on-year to US$766.1 million for FY2022. That’s right - we’re going to talk all about fashion today with Tapestry - the parent company behind the three brands I mentioned earlier.  The company recently released its fiscal 2023 second quarter financial results, where it raised its profit outlook for the full year.  Tapestry also added about 2.6 million customers in North America in the quarter - nearly half of them were Gen Z and millennials. People will soon be paying for plastic at more places, with most supermarkets set to charge at least five cents per bag from July 3.The move, part of a bid to reduce the use of disposables in Singapore, comes in tandem with efforts to ramp up recycling efforts in homes.
