27/08/24 - What's Trending: A burglar's modern EpicOn What's Trending, Liam and Noel Gallagher have reportedly hinted at an Oasis reunion, with a clip featuring the band's logo appearing on their social media accounts and the official Oasis page. The brothers, who broke up in 2009 after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, have been urged to regroup since their breakup in 2009.
Also, a 38-year-old man from Rome was arrested after being caught in the middle of a burglary, distracted by a Greek mythology book he found at the scene. The man became so engrossed in the book that he continued reading it even as the 71-year-old homeowner confronted him. Attempting to escape, the thief tried to flee via the balcony he had used to enter but was apprehended by the police.

The name has a deeper meaning as it is the middle name of Justin's father, Jeremy Bieber. The couple has grown closer over the years, and Jack's arrival also means that three generations of Bieber men share the 'JB' initials.

26/08/24 - Market View: Powell says “the time has come” for rate cuts; Apple vs Google; Starbucks’ over 170,000 possible drink combinations; Singapore’s factory output up 1.8% yoy in July; Shangri-La Asia posts 28.1% yoy decline in net profit and moreSingapore stocks rose this morning as remarks from US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell cemented expectations that the central bank will cut its key policy rate next month.
The Straits Times Index (STI) opened 0.4 per cent higher at 3,401.33 points after 72.9 million securities changed hands in the broader market.
In terms of companies to watch, we have Shangri-La Asia. The hotel group had on Friday posted a 28.1 per cent decline in net profit to US$94.5 million for the first half-year ended June, from US$131.4 million a year earlier.
Elsewhere from Singapore’s factory output returning to growth to more on Apple and Google, more local and corporate headlines remain in focus.
Also in focus – how the over 170,000 possible Starbucks drinks combinations is complicating matters for the company and whether it is beneficial for the firm to go back to the basics.

26/08/24 - What’s Trending: TikTok cucumber craze puts Iceland in a pickleOn What's Trending, TikTok user Logan Moffitt has sparked a worldwide trend of cucumber salads prepared in plastic deli containers, with his videos gaining 30 million views and thousands of recreations. However, the trend has caused a nationwide cucumber shortage in Iceland, where local grocery stores are out of cucumbers.
Also, a new study has found that humans age at a molecular level in two accelerated bursts – first at the age of 44 and then again at 60. The majority of molecules studied showed accelerated, non-linear changes at these two points. Some points in time are particularly important for aging and health, such as the decrease in the ability to metabolise caffeine and alcohol.
